It is a forum to: - discussing topics relevant to Christain Leadership - exchanging ideas on how to be better leaders - discussing available resources (including conference, position openings, seminars, books, etc.) - sharing problems for advice - giving and receiving advice from others (b) The Leadership Forum is not a forum for: - debating controversial doctrinal issues (i.e. the role of women in leadership, creation vs. evolution, etc.) or general theology. Other lists are available to provide discussions concerning these issues. (See below for more details). (c) Please remember that when you send a message or reply the Leadership Forum, it is being sent to HUNDREDS of people. So short messages like, "I agree!", "Amen", etc are not appropriate. Also reply via private e-mail unless you are *certain* that the list would benefit from your reply. (d) Please give a descriptive SUBJECT lines. (e) Pause before sending a message and ask the Lord if He would send it. Is there anything in your message that a person could take as an attack? Remember that we need to discuss issues in a loving spirit...if you just send a message without love, it could be like "a loud clashing cymbal." Flaming (barbed comments or put downs) will not be tolerated. (f) If the topics being discussed (threads) do not interest you or are not addressing your interests, please feel free to start a thread. Mailing lists are only as good as the people who participate in them, so feel free to contribute! ****************************************************************************** BY YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO THE LEADERSHIP FORUM, YOU ACCEPT THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION AND GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION. ****************************************************************************** These guidelines, when followed, can help make this Forum a tremendous service to Christian Leaders. It will also help keep the e-mail traffic down as well which will be cheaper for our America OnLine, CompuServe, and other commercial services subscribers. They're not meant to hinder conversation as much as they are meant to help direct and focus the conversation. (Sec. 2) WHAT MAKES THIS FORUM HELPFUL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Forum's effectiveness in helping ministries is dependent upon two things: (1) God's grace and (2) those that particpate in the discussions. The more questions, suggestions, and ideas that are posted, the better this will serve Christians leaders. But please only post messages that are relevant. The more specific you can make your message/question the more likely people will be able to offer suggestions and ideas. But the most important thing to remember is to make sure your post is relevant to the topic of this list - Christian Leadership!!! If you're not sure, contact me! (Sec. 3) OTHER FORUMS FOR DISCUSSING THEOLOGICAL AND CHRISTIAN ISSUES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To receive a list detailing Christian resources, including Christian discussion lists, on the INTERNET, send a message to the NJB (Not Just Bibles) Team at njb@iclnet93.iclnet.org Please use the following in the SUBJECT line of your message: NJB...........for the current edition NJB SUB.......for the current eddition and new editions as available (Sec. 4) COMMERCIAL SERVICES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AMERICA ONLINE How to configue AOL to allow you to compose and read messages offline: While OFFLINE: 1. From the AOL Main menu select Mail | FlashSessions... 2. To have the software lead you through the process for the first time, select "Walk Me Through". Otherwise, on this screen the user may check what he or she wants to accomplish during this FlashSession. Options are __ Retrieve unread mail __ Send outgoing mail __ Download selected files 3. Check the "Retrieve unread mail" box. 4. Select "Activate Session Now". 5. A dialogue box will be displayed offering the user the option to remain online once the FlashSession has terminated. For the fastest time online, leave this option unchecked. 6. Select "Begin". 7. The software takes over, going through the logging-on process, supplying even the user's password. While ONLINE: 1. The software immediately downloads all unread mail to a database file on the user's hard drive, keeping a log (in a window) of each item. 2. If the user checked only "Retrieve unread mail", then at this point the software would immediately disconnect. While OFFLINE: 1. To read, save to disk as a separate file, or replay to mail, from the AOL Main menu select Mail | Read Incoming Mail. 2. A list of mail items will be displayed. To read all, double-click on the first item in the queue. 3. To save any piece of mail as a separate file, click on the "Save Text As" icon or select File | Save from the AOL Main menu. 4. Click on "Next" to read the next piece of mail; click on "delete" to delete the displayed item from the mail database. A faster way to process the mail is to save what you want to keep while reading, then when all finished reading, return to the original list of mail to delete. (Sec. 5) UNSUBSCRIBING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To unsubscribe, send a message to: MAJORDOMO@ICLNET93.ICLNET.ORG With this in the as the message: UNSUBSCRIBE LEADERSHIP For more help, send a message to MajorDomo with the word HELP as the message. (Sec. 6) UNDER CONSTRUCTION ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you can see, I'm still working on this FAQ. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to send them to me. I particularly want to expand information on CompuServe and how those users can reduce their costs by downloading their mail.
