Prayer has always been a part of every Christian occasion. It is quite impossible to overlook prayer especially in times of remembering the life of Jesus. With this coming Easter season, let us not fail to reminisce the victory Jesus gave as he died on the cross and rose again in three days with the utterance of our sincerest prayers. Additionally, Easter is a tactical time to develop a habit of prayer. A new season in the Christian calendar gives us a sense of arrangement to restart or characters and behaviors. Easter is a time to let our faith take a step forward. Let us contemplate the Easter season with Easter prayers. This will no doubt not just add spice to our celebration, but it will also develop in us a closer connection to the King whose blood was poured out for us.

An Easter Prayer each day can sprout into a season’s change of heart, increase ones’ faith, or shatter our chains. These possible spiritual results allow us to see if prayers are done intentionally to seek growth. It allows us to have a leap forward into our faith and connection with God. Prayer, particularly the Easter prayer is like water being poured into the roots of our spiritual foundation. A daily glug down of Easter prayer this season will collectively stem into a significant spiritual upshot.

Furthermore, an Easter prayer can help us secure an intimate connection with God throughout the Easter season. This is vital and necessary for our soul to find strength and refreshment. Clearly, the remembrance of Christ’s resurrection which Easter celebrates calls for a stronger understanding of Jesus’ works, victory, and revival. The collection of the following Easter Prayers will aid us to deepen our perception and knowledge of Christ’s victorious resurrection.

Elated Easter Prayers

Easter is a day of celebration. It is the day commemorating the triumphant resurrection of Jesus. After two days of mourning, Jesus Christ rose from death on the third day, proving that He is the Messiah. Imagine the entire heaven and earth weeping for the loss of the King. But, their king then returned to life, bringing with Him a message to call those in the darkness into His marvelous light so that they may receive everlasting life (1 John 5:13). Suddenly, sorrow turns into joy, gloomy hours of pitch-black darkness are replaced with bright colors, where there was lamenting, swiftly comes singing and dancing. A great celebration echoes in heaven spontaneously. Death has lost its sting, for Jesus Christ has risen! He is the Messiah who has overcome the grave. With his victory, the whole earth brims with praises and gladness.

Easter prayers are full of gladness and delight. It remembers the King who sacrificed his life for our salvation. The Lent season reminds us of Christ’s suffering; but the Easter season, on the other hand, reminds us of Christ’s victory. This makes Easter Sunday especially joyful. Hence, Easter prayers call for a jubilant remembrance. Additionally, prayer does not limit people to a mere conversation with God. There are other ways to offer prayers before God. Sometimes prayers take the form of songs and music. Even King David uses hymns to express His praises and admiration to God (Book of Psalms). When Moses and the Israelites successfully crossed the Red Sea, they sang and danced with their songs of exaltation before God (Exodus 15:1-2). You, too, aside from elated Easter prayers, can express your adoration to God with Christian music, songs, and poetry.

May the glory and the promise of this joyous time of year bring peace and happiness to you and those you hold most dear. May Christ, Our Risen Savior, always be there by your side to bless you most abundantly and be your loving guide.

Lord God, Jesus cried out to you on the cross, “Why have you forsaken me?” You seemed so far from his cry and from his distress. Those who stood at the foot of the cross wondered where you were, as they saw Jesus mocked and shamed and killed. Where were you then? Lord God, we, too, ask where you are, when there is trouble and suffering and death, and we cry out to you for help. Be near to us, and save us so that we may praise you for your deliverance. Lord God, we wait, on Friday, for the resurrection of Sunday and sometimes our lives seem a succession of Fridays and we cannot see what is “Good.” Teach us to call your name as Jesus did. Make us trust in you like little children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As the world sings triumphant cries to heaven over death that you conquered, help us, Lord, tomorrow as well, when the dresses are put away and the candy is all eaten and on with life we go let us not forget. The celebration of your resurrection over death is a celebration of life that should continue well beyond the sunrise service and the music, rehearsed for days prior; it is beyond the sign of spring, beyond the lily, beyond new lambs grazing in open fields. Resurrection is a daily celebration over fear; man’s greatest and most powerful enemy. Fear of tomorrow, fear of our yesterdays, fear of what shall become of our young our old our unborn. Resurrection is replacing fear with physical action.

Lord Jesus Christ, I rejoice and rejoice continually in Your glorious and triumphant victory over death. For Your victory is my victory. Help me to live by it, in it, and for it. I am grateful to my depths – grateful forever. Amen.

Easter Sunday Prayer

Easter Sunday marks the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus and is a festive holiday for Christians. Aside from the festive season of Christmas, Easter Sunday is also the most important holiday in the Christian calendar. You may wonder why is it important. Well, it is because this day represents the fulfillment of the prophecies stated in the Old Testament. Through the work and ministry of Jesus, biblical prophecies came to pass. The crucifixion of Jesus will be futile without his resurrection. The washing of the sins of the world does not end on the cross, however. The defeat of death on the cross was only part of his victory. Death was only conquered when Jesus rose from the dead three days later. Because Jesus was alive, we, too, are alive in Christ. Easter Sunday is an important day that everyone should celebrate.

Various churches celebrate Easter Sunday with varying customs. For example, Protestant Churches only have Sunday services in the morning as a depiction of the arrival of women on Jesus’ empty tomb in the morning of his resurrection. Additionally, Easter Sunday is a popular day for a traditional family gathering as many celebrate festivities with their families and friends. Some well-known activities include Easter egg hunts, the giving of Easter cards, sweet treats for kids and bouquets of flowers for adults. The Roman Catholic Churches, however, conduct Easter Vigil at midnight; a mass that lasts longer than the morning mass because of the varying sacraments presented. .This time, add an Easter prayer to your Easter Sunday tradition.

It is best to observe the Easter prayer together with your family before you start the egg hunting or before you share the morning family meal. Here is an example of Easter Sunday prayer:

This alone, the most touching and profound of Your signs that fear is dead and belief in you brings, not just hope but life.

What better living parable could You have brought? All fear death. All. Even in the garden, You took on our fear if, for only moments, it was as real as our fears can be real and You knew then that this single enemy must be destroyed.

And, You sacrificed Your life, leaving those who had been comforted, and follower; You left them behind, to conquer fear. I shall cling to this now, and what tomorrow brings me. Let peace and thanksgiving be lifted unto you.

Amen.

Easter Children’s Prayer

Children's Easter prayer

The habit of prayer starts at any age. The sooner they learn how to pray, the better. They are most likely to practice what they do growing up even when they get older. It matters that we train children to include prayer in whatever occasion. And it matters also that we teach them today. There are simple yet interesting Easter prayers that your children can use during the Easter season. Aside from Easter egg hunting and chocolate treats, make prayer a part of your Easter tradition. In this manner, your children will consider Easter prayer as part of the celebration. Let them look at it as an important portion of the festivity that shouldn’t be neglected. Moreover, tell them the reason for an Easter prayer and show them how to pray an Easter prayer. A fun way to keep them engaged is to use Bible stories if possible.

Let them know what Easter prayer was for, why they should observe it, and how it can help them connect with  Jesus. Although this appears a bit complex, remind them that prayer is an honest conversation with God. The Lord loves a transparent heart just like David had (Psalm 51). He will surely adore the genuine prayers of children. Jesus said that the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is the little children (Matthew 18:2 -5) because of their humility. Therefore, allow these little children to come before God especially in the season of Easter.

At their young age, the subsequent Easter prayer will be of good aid to help children develop a prayerful Easter season. Use these prayers as a guide for the little children to speak with God:

God made you and God made me, He made the world for us to see.
God loves you and long ago, He sent his Son to tell us so.
Jesus showed us many things, to love and share and dance and sing.
To learn and pray, to help and care, He promised he’d always be there.
He died but then came back to life, let’s celebrate for he’s alive!

Amen.

Easter Dinner Prayer

people sharing meal together

When Easter Sunday comes around, many look forward to the delectable, traditional dishes shared with their families. Behind this scrumptious meal is also a sentimental gathering. Easter Sunday features a family-focused tradition. It brings us back to the table to spend quality time with our loved ones. Although it emphasizes the bond of peace between family members, the center of this celebration still must highlight the resurrection of Jesus. Moreover, God enjoys festivities as much as we do as seen in various Books of the Bible. Heaven celebrates as well. Furthermore, He takes pleasure in the smiles of His people.

This festivity is a righteous celebration. The Old Testament records several feasts as part of their tradition which God has carefully instructed most of these feasts. These comprise of The Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Firstfruits, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Trumpets, and the Feast of Tabernacles. These celebrations incorporate offerings before an altar.

However, because of Jesus’ victory over death, today’s generation does not have to go through sacrifices as those who lived in the Old Testament. Today, we just pray and study the bible to form a strong relationship with God. Additionally, it also won’t take much of your time if you start your Easter dinner with an Easter prayer. Here are some to consider:

Creator God and Lord of Life, You who call forth from the darkness of death all those who love You, we rejoice, on this Easter Sunday, in the resurrection from the dead of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Visit our home and this table with Your bright blessing of peace and life. We pause in the midst of this prayer to remember all the holy dead of our family who live now in You and who await the final and glorious resurrection of the dead.

May they and we, because of our faith in You, our God, taste in the victory of life over death. May the Risen Christ, our Lord, and Savior, be our guest as we celebrate His resurrection with this Easter Sunday dinner. Bless those whose work to prepare this meal has truly been a work of prayer, and bless all of us who shall share it with Easter love and joy. May You, then, bless this table and this food, and each of us in Your holy name.

Amen.

Lord,

As we gather together as family and friends we invite you once again into our lives. May the hope of your resurrection color our days; the promise of your spirit working in us light up our lives. May the love you revealed to us shape our giving. And May the truth in your word guide our journeys, and may the joy of your kingdom fill our homes. As we gather together underneath the banner of your life, we thank you for all the wonderful food that we can now enjoy and celebrate your glorious resurrection.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Lord, thank you that on the cross you overcame all darkness, sin, and death and are alive forevermore. Thank you that we are made alive in you and are eternally yours. So today we praise you for your endless goodness and provision. Please bless this beautiful food to us now in your precious name.

Amen.

— Living Prayers

Loving God, bless all those gathered here today as we come together in friendship and fellowship. Thank you for the blessings of our individual and collective God-given gifts. Place in our hearts the desire to make a difference to our families, to our community, to our country, and to the many cultures and peoples worldwide. Give us a balance in times of distraction and uncertainty. Help us move towards our goals with determination and always with an abundant sense of humor. Thank you for food in a world where many know only hunger; For our faith in a world where many know fear; For friends in a world where many know only loneliness. Please bless this food we are about to share, those who prepared it, those who serve it, and those who have worked to make today the special occasion that it is. For all of this, we give you thanks.

Prayer about Christ’ Resurrection

woman praying with outstretched hands

The focal theme of Easter is Jesus’ resurrection. It is what the celebration is all about. The Book of Matthew chapter 28 clearly describes what happened on the day of Christ’s resurrection. After the Sabbath, Mary the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene came to see the tomb of Jesus. An angel of the Lord then appeared to them, telling them that Jesus has risen. In excitement, they went to tell Jesus’ disciples, but on their way to the disciples, they met Jesus where they bowed and worshipped him (Matthew 28: 8-9). What a privilege to be one of the first persons to worship the risen King. These women displayed what we should do when celebrating Easter.

When Mary mother of Jesus and Mary Magdelene saw Jesus, they neither questioned nor doubted when greeting Jesus. They simply worshiped Him. Like the two women, through prayer, we should purely seek God’s presence. The resurrection of Jesus made a way for the presence of God to dwell in man’s heart and not just in temples. Jesus made a way to resurrect life.

The following Easter prayers may help us focus on the good news of resurrection:

Dear Lord, may I realize afresh today what Your death and resurrection mean for me. Forgiveness, freedom, and the ability to walk with You through this fallen world into eternity. May I always find my satisfaction in You and Your willingness to offer Yourself to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

— Rachel Olsen

Love overcame
Emerging from a cold tomb
All the truth, majesty, and creativity of a living God
Transforming a broken heart
Making a quiet return, in a still and sorrowful garden
The gravestone rolled away, to release redemptive love
Jesus resurrected and restored
Comforts a weeping woman
Speaks with travelers on a journey
Meets with his faithful friends
And they bow down before Christ alive
And acknowledged that the savior has arrived
That the word of God has come alive
And that the extraordinary transformation of heaven and earth is complete.

— Julie Palmer

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, by Your radiant and magnificent resurrection, You broke the bonds of death and rose from the grave as a conqueror. You reconciled Heaven and earth. Our life had no hope of eternal happiness before You redeemed us. Your resurrection has washed away our sins, restored our innocence, and brought us joy. How inestimable is the tenderness of Your love!

— Saint Gregory the Great

Lord, the resurrection of Your Son has given us new life and renewed hope. Help us to live as new people in pursuit of the Christian ideal. Grant us wisdom to know what we must do, the will to want to do it, the courage to undertake it, the perseverance to continue to do it, and the strength to complete it.

Easter Prayers of Thanksgiving

Easter prayer- woman praying

We always have a long list of things to thank God for. However, an Easter prayer of thanksgiving is a special prayer in gratitude for Jesus’ misery and victory. We have all year round to thank God for the things He has given to us freely. Let us take this Easter day to thank God for what He has done on the cross for us. The best thing we are to thank God for is the free gift of eternal life set before us. By the grace of God, the entire world can see a life beyond this earth. We have freedom from suffering because God’s only begotten son took our place and endured the pain we deserve.

Through the blood of Jesus, we are free from sin (1 Corinthians 7:23). Sin enslaves us, corrupts us, and eventually will destroy us with an unending torment. But Jesus accepted the wounds of our transgressions and was bruised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5). He suffered in order for us to find acceptance in heaven and have the healing for the forgiveness of our trespasses. He bore the sin of many (1 Peter 2:24) for salvation’s sake. All we could do is accept His work and miracle. How could we not be thankful for it? This Easter, take time to utterly express our gratitude for who God is, THE Savior, Waymaker, Healer, and Redeemer.

Lord God,
You loved this world so much,
That you gave your one and only Son,
That we might be called your children too.
Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace
Of Easter Sunday, everyday.
Let us have hearts of thankfulness
For your sacrifice.

Let us have eyes that look upon
Your grace and rejoice in our salvation.
Help us to walk in that mighty grace
And tell your good news to the world.
All for your glory do we pray, Lord,

Amen.

— Rachel Marie Stone

Father, Thank You for the miracle of life – abundant life here, and eternal life with You in Heaven. Help me celebrate that life every day as I seek You and follow Your plan for my life. Today, I say with the Apostle Paul, “Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?” In Jesus’ name, Amen.

— Mary Southerland

O Lord,
How amazing is your love, a love that overcomes, endures and redeems. How astounding is your life; a life that sustains, heals and creates. How awesome is your hope; a hope that promises restores and inspires. How absorbing is your truth; a truth that releases, changes and rebuilds. How we worship you, as we remember the moment when your love conquered. When out of the cave of sorrow Jesus arose to release forgiveness to the world. And each time we encounter this resurrection day we are again lifted to an eternal place. Our sin, brokenness, and darkness fall away and your light and peace flood our lives. How we thank you for this incredible celebration we call Easter.

Amen.

— Living Prayers

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to save me from my sins.  Thank you that you loved me enough to send a perfect sacrifice, so that we could live together eternally. I confess that I am a sinner and need forgiveness.  I ask you to come into my heart, and I commit to following Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Powerful Easter Prayers

Easter prayer - hands open as sign of prayer

The exceeding greatness of the power of God toward us who believe according to the working of His great might is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 1: 19-20). The immeasurable power that gave Jesus the dominion over all the principalities of both heaven and earth is the same power God has given to us, the Church. Ephesians 6:12 teaches us that it is not just a war against the flesh that we are fighting for. Instead, it is against the rulers, principalities, and the powers of darkness. The enemy never misses every chasm to attack and destroy. Therefore, constant prayer is crucial in combating this dark force. This Easter, let us overcome our battles with Easter prayers.

Easter reminds us of Jesus’ victory. He has overcome the world and therefore, we need to take heart (John 16:33). An Easter prayer claiming God’s power for this season means putting on the armor of God to fight the good fight of faith. Easter prayers with sincere compassion and reverence of God’s truth make a mighty prayer. The following powerful Easter prayers can help us in seasons of tribulation, temptation, and endurance.

Lord Jesus Christ, I rejoice and rejoice continually in Your glorious and triumphant victory over death. For Your victory is my victory. Help me to live by it, in it, and for it. I am grateful to my depths—grateful forever. Amen.

— Selwyn Hughes

Lord, death could not hold You. And because of You, the resurrection, we, too, can live. Thank You that the grave is only a journey into the presence of God. You have removed the sting of death and empowered this thing called life. Now I will live in Your presence forever. Amen.

— Rebecca Barlow Jordan

Almighty God, who through your only‑begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

— Book of Common Prayer, 1979 version

God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, though your people walk in the valley of darkness, no evil should they fear; for they follow in faith the call of the shepherd whom you have sent for their hope and strength. Attune our minds to the sound of his voice, lead our steps in the path he has shown, that we may know the strength of his outstretched arm and enjoy the light of your presence forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter Prayers of Faith

man praying out in the fields

There are tough times even if you plainly think things will come in smooth. Momentary troubles are inevitable. They happen even in the least moments you expect it to be. When the world is in chaos and fear due to unforeseen diseases, calamities, or conflicts, it takes a faithful heart to continue believing and striving. Easter is a reminder of hope foreshadowed on the cross. As Jesus hung on the cross, his disciples and followers were expecting the worse and many became hopeless. But, three days after Christ’s death, His resurrection breathed new life into His believers. The things they hoped in Christ were assured and their faith stood firm (Hebrews 11:1). That is faith!

With various things happening around the world, we can help fight spiritual battles on bended knees. Prayer is a powerful weapon, and its truth never fails. The famous Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 presents the famous characters in the Bible who showed their faith amidst pains and trials. They endured and continued by faith. Remember, Jesus has overcome the world. An increase in faith is a mark of spiritual growth. There can be no increase in faith if there were no testing by fire ( 1 Peter 1:7). The good news is we can always ask for faith through prayer.

The Apostles in Luke 17:5 asked Jesus for an increase of faith. The Apostles have seen Christ, broke bread with him, and conversed with him. Yet, they still asked for an increase of faith. How much more will God give us if we ask for it? Here are some Easter prayers of faith that you need to check:

Draw us forth, God of all creation. Draw us forward and away from limited certainty into the immense world of your love. Give us the capacity to even for a moment taste the richness of the feast you give us. Give us the peace to live with uncertainty, with questions, with doubts. Help us to experience the resurrection anew with open wonder and an increasing ability to see you in the people of Easter. Amen.

— Author Unknown

Almighty and ever-living God, give us new strength from the courage of Christ our shepherd and lead us to join the saints in heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

— Catholic Opening Prayer for the 4th Sunday of Easter

Blessed be the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In His great mercy
He has given us a new birth
to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead
and to an inheritance
that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.
It is reserved in heaven for you,
who because of your faith in God
are being protected by His power
until the salvation
that is ready to be revealed at the end of time.

— New Saint Joseph People’s Prayer Book

Dear Lord, draw my thoughts upward toward You every minute of every day, but especially this Easter. Help me resist the temptation to focus on the painful things of this earthly life and learn to control my thoughts so they don’t sink my faith or joy in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

— Traci Miles

Arise Each Day with Prayer

Easter is a significant time to remind us of our need for a Savior. Also, it is a timely season to help us get back to the habit of prayer. Prayer draws us closer to God more than corporate gatherings can do. Since it is an intimate fellowship with the one great King, it nourishes no other relationship but with Him alone. This communion is the most critical fellowship every Christian ought to be consistent with. There is a serious need to realize that in our most eventful journey, prayer is a necessary point of start. It is not a choice we simply make. Rather, it is a discipline we need to build. Prayer is a process of continuous communication with God. It simply doesn’t end on a single occasion or consecutive periods. Instead, prayer is a practice developed through consistent effort.

To grow physically means to infuse our bodies with the right nourishment. Our muscles and bones require the necessary diet for our bodies to develop in accordance with the growth it demands. In the same manner, our spiritual muscles and bones require spiritual nourishment in order to grow. There are two fundamental doses to grow spiritually. First is through a regular supply of the Word of God, which is the food of the Spirit (Luke 4:4). Second, enough amount of prayer to the One who provides all our needs (Philippians 4:6).

Starting each day with a prayer and not just on Easter will mean putting a consistent effort for growth. Easter is an apt period to begin your daily prayer habit. Make the best use of your Easter season by intentionally seeking growth through prayer and meditation. The collective Easter prayers above will surely help you be on the right start.
